Hey!
So on Wednesday we went to an appointment with a man named Julius. we have been teaching him for a while and got through all of the lessons but he just wasn't really progressing, but still wanted us to come visit him. So the last few times we have been re-teaching certain principles and lessons. last week we re-taught the plan of salvation. and you could just see everything starting to click and make sense to him and at the end of that lesson he said "i cant believe i have been going to my catholic church every week since i was a child and i have never heard about the celestial kingdom until you two came." anyways, this week when we went he had his god-father and real father there to meet us so that they could "pass their judgment" on us, and his father is crazy. His father is a Masai and is very traditional except that he can speak English. He told us after a few questions about the church "we like you. we would like to do something special for you. so you WILL be staying here tonight." as we tried to explain that we couldn't without permission he told us to call whoever it was we needed to call and that he would talk to them. So we called the ZL's and gave him the phone. i guess he thought we would be to scared to do it cause once he heard the ringing he just hung up and told us we could arrange for a different time, but that there was still something we needed to do. It was dark by this time but only like 7:30 so we started to follow him. as we followed him he explained that in Masai tradition one of the last things the boys have to do is to drink a liter of fresh cow blood before they are considered men and can go with the other men in the tribe to herd the cattle, and that he was leading us to his cow pasture so that we could bleed a cow and each drink a liter of blood. He stuck a hollow read into the cows jugular and then let the blood flow into liter sized cups for each of us. It actually didnt taste bad. it was warm and salty. it was just wierd to think that i was drinking blood. i wish i would have had my camera to get pictures, cause i am pretty sure that is a once in a life time event.Anyways, this week was good. It was kinda like Easter was non existant except that everything has been shut down since thursday and wont open again till tomorow, i am at a muslim cyber today to write to you all. Zone conference was good, but what was better was having Pres Taylor tell the branch president that he has to give people callings, even if the calling is just to shut the windows after sacrament, that should help so that the missionarys can stop teaching ALL of the classes at church. Dad, just so you know i can prit stuff at a few of the cybers but it is expensive and i prefer not to, and it is better if you send me your message threw hotmail and not the blog because it is hard to pull the blog up some days, although it is nice to have your questions on the blog so that i can switch back and forth to make sure i have answered them all. I am glad you all had a fun easter and that everything is going so well at home. and i am sad i missed sam trying to spit jelly beans into megs mouth, sounds hilarious.please make sure greg is getting my e-mails, and thank you for all of your effort to get me his and chads and jakes. i love you all so much! i hope you all have the best week ever!
Love, Elder Harris!
