Letter from Josh 12 July 2010

Hello everyone!

This week has been good. I pretty much got no sleep until Friday because it was transfers and so we had to drive everyone to and from areas or to and from bus's and airplane's. i went to the airport 5 times last week, only one of those times was for myself when we went down to Dar es Salaam on Thursday evening. we generally got home at around midnight and then would be up at four to start again. it was pretty hectic. Dar was fun though. We stayed with the zone leaders down their for the few days we were there and one of them was pretty hilarious. we were talking about the kind of girl we want to marry, and this kid seriously just wants to breed. his main goal in marriage is to create super good distance runners for children. He does not care about looks really at all, i saw pictures of the girls he dates and we looked at the pictures and then at him and said "are you serious?" and his response was "Bwana, you haven't seen them run!!!" I'm expecting great things of his children, but I'm not exactly expecting his wife to be too attractive. its his loss though.
We had our first zone conference with the Broadbents. it was really good. they gave their training together which i thought was much better than the separated thing that the taylors would do, mostly because sister Taylors trainings ended up always being about cleaning the flat or something boring like that. the zone conferences are changing to quarterly, but nothing else is changing about them contrary to what dad said. they are giving us stuff they want us to train the missionaries on in the zone conferences if that's what dad meant, but that the only "change." however that quarterly change wont happen until the area presidency says to implement it so for the next bit it is still every transfer. and dad also said something about transfers not being six weeks, but they will be six weeks still.
We get to go to arusha this weekend. I'm excited to go but also kind of nervous because im scared that we will go and then all of the people i taught wont be coming anymore. but we will see. but because we are going to arusha i wont be able to e-mail on Saturday again, it will be monday before i have a chance.
I'm glad that the pool is finished and hat you are all enjoying it. is really even big enough to swim laps in? or just big enough to practice flip-turns? you might want to let Greg answer that one since nobody in the harris home can actually do a flip-turn. i hope for moms sake that the heater gets going because knowing her she probably hasnt even got in yet. Mom, i have told you before but the release date is November 10th. you are welcome to come on that day or on the evening of the ninth. i dont really know what all i want to do with you guys. to be honest, other than a safari and maybe a day of showing you around the city i dont know what we would do. anything else i would want to do i would rather wait till we got home to do. Mombasa could be good if you wanted a day on the beach, and thats where all of the cheapest souvenirs are, but once again, not a ton to do. safari's would probably be best out of Arusha, they have a lot more of the famous parks there and we could go see Kilimanjaro. but i dont know, i want you guys to enjoy this trip. i want Spencer and mom to enjoy this trip. i know dad will regardless of what we do. and mom, stop being nervous, Africa is the same as home, they just have more black people, and a few laws that are really stupid.
anyways, i love you!!! i hope you have a great week and that you enjoy the pool for me!
Love,
Elder Harris
