Letter from Josh 1 December 2009

Hey Family,

First off, you guys are rediculous. i miss one email day and you create a theory that the muslims are in revolt and i am not aloud to leave the flat. its pretty funny really. but what happened was that the zone conference was moved so we had that yesterday and today is our p-day. so there you go, i am safe and there is no revolt and no body died. i would have thought that after a year you would be able to feel a bit more comfortable and think that i am safe, but i guess not. although mom didnt think michael was safe either. but i am no less safe than he was, and he made it home, and i promise i will too.
The week was ok though. it was a bit slow because just as i decided to forget about my ankle and go work anyways, my comp starts throwing up. so we were in tuesday and wednesday.then on friday we spent the whole day looking for an apartment again. and at 4:50 we walked into the last agents office for the day since they close at 5:00 and they had one that was perfect except maybe a bit too expensive but we called the people in charge of missionarry flats anyways and they just said that they would have president taylor come look at it since he would be in town for the zone conference. which sounded like it was going to be a no by the way he said it. but then we went and saw the place again with pres taylor sat morning and he gave us the go ahead. which is awesome. so now we are just waiting for the contract to be signed and in. but the flat is awesome. it even has an elevator and it is right across the road from the store and a two minute walk to the ferry which we have to take everyday. so i am very happy about that. plus when we went through the house we went through with the owner (who is muslim) and he was asking if we were going to use it as a church or as a buisness and you could tell that he didnt want that. and even when we told him that it was just residential he didnt seem too sure. but then just before we left pres taylor started telling the guy about the mission rules like how we cant have girls over and there is no alchohol and we have to be in bed by ten thirty. and after that the guy seened exstatic. so i dont think we will have any "family member" problems with this one.
zone conference was good. sister taylor taught about record keping and a lot about writing and keeping a journal, which i havent done for like 3 months now so it made me feel bad. i plan on starting again tonight. then presidents trainging was on recognizing the spirit and he just stood up and said the best way to recognize the spirit is to know what it feels like. and then had everybody bear their testimony. it was way cool and the spirit was very strong. but i was a bit jealous that he didnt have to actually prepare a formal training when my comp and i had to.
i got the birthday package when the assistants came this weekend. thank you very much! and thank the hulseys for me for sending the card. i love the tie, but i still cant figure out who picked it. i am almost positive it wasnt dad (it didnt say BYU anywhere on it and it wasnt blue and gold), but props to whoever did choose it. i probably wont get the christmas package until jan 8, when the next zone conference will be.
anyways, i love you all. i hope you are having an amazing holiday season without me (its my last one away from home, wahoo!)
love,
Elder Harris
