Letter from Josh 1 February 2010

Hey Everybody!!!!

this week was good. really good. i still cant put my finger on why exactly, it just was. and it went super fast too, i cant believe it is Monday again.
I am still super jealous of your trip to Chile. it really was so beautiful and relaxed and fun when i was there, just like what mom said about her trip there. i even remember sleeping in fairly late everyday that i was there. i actually think i had them concerned for a bit with how much and how late i was sleeping. i feel kinda bad about that. but most of those days i would wake up and all of them would be at school. so its not like they were waiting for me to go do something. but i am glad that you are home safe and that you loved it. and as far as dads sandals. . . what were you thinking just leaving them all alone? thats just asking for the stuff to be taken.
we have six missionary's in the ward here, and its a bit frustrating because then when somebody shows up to church or is brought by a member then we have to figure whos area they live in. which is kind of an annoyance but not really a big problem. the problem is that some of the other missionary's dont care about whose area it is and just teach whoever and so there are 3 people that we know of now and possibly more that should be our investigators but now that they have met with the others a few times they want to continue with them. i understand wanting more investigators to fill up your day with teaching appointments and not to have to tract, but stealing the investigators from the other missionaries makes them suffer. its annoying. and i have to say the sisters are the worst about it. they even have investigators that should be going to different wards, and they travel far to meet them too. its bogus, the sisters are bogus.
but we had some good appointments this week. we met this Somalian guy named abdi that moved to Nairobi to get away from his family so that he wouldnt be forced to be a Muslim. he has graduate degrees in the bible the qu'ran and is working on one for Hinduism. he met missionary's two years ago and they introduced him to the book of Mormon. which he read and studied on the internet on his cell phone because if his family would have seen him he could have been killed for being an "infidel" or traitor. he said he believes he has found the truth and wants to be taught by the missionary's and be baptized. the guy is nuts. i respect him for what he is doing for sure. but if he is ever "caught" by his family he will no longer be known as part of their family and wont have any ties with any of them at best. and if they get him back in Somalia then he could be "slaughtered like a goat." he will have to have an interview with president taylor before he can be baptized. the bad news about it all was that he lives in the other elders area, so we had to give him to them to teach.
we also had a pretty productive friday. i wasnt excited in the morning because the whole day was going to be tracting after our only appointment at noon but we got into some good houses and were able to make return appointments. so i am excited to see what happens there.
anyways, i love you guys!!!!!! i hope you have an amazing week.
Love,
Josh

I love the picture of the baptism. The look on her face and the unsure trust of her hands, show FAITH! CONGRATS!!
