Letter from MY BOY...9 NOV 2009

hey guys!

sorry for the blank e-mail. i normally put in the email addresses at the end but today i decided to put them in first and then when i finished i hit send out of habit since that's what i normally do after i type the addresses, and it is late enough that mom is probably on and freaking out and saying that the computers either on my side or hers isn't working right, but that should make her more happy for this.
anyways, i am in chyulu right now. we came down for the exchanges for the transfer. i have to go sooooo far tomorrow. it is 25 kilometers one way (about 2 hours, i don't know the distance in miles, and it is super hilly too) so 50 total plus the biking in between the appointments too. these elders need cars, but we are stuck with bikes so we will ride! but it will be fun. it is always fun to go on exchanges, especially when you get to split with fun elders, and i love the chyulu boys right now.
we had zone conference on Saturday. i had to give a training, so i as nervous for that and also for having to plan the whole thing and organize lunch for everyone and make sure that everybody was able to find the new couples flat and all of this basically on my own because i never had a zone conference with elder Hansen here and normally the one before shows you how things are suppose to go, but not for me i guess. things turned out fine but i forgot a few things in the program and i never got plastic plates for the lunch so we had to take turns eating and then wash all the stuff after and. . . i could go on but its not important. lots of little mistakes but nothing big so i was decently happy about it. i haven't had a zone conference since the 4 of july and i forgot how good they can be. how motivated you can get, even if it only lasts for that day, it was still nice.
we didn't get to do much teaching this week. i pretty much just showed the other guys where everybody in their area lives and then showed them where some of the other places are that would be good for finding and so on. Friday afternoon after our weekly planning was the first time with just me and eder Meistre. this transfer is going to rock. or half a transfer anyways, its half gone now; and we are just now being able to start the real work, or we will once we are back from chyulu anyways.
i cant believe you are sending the Christmas package already, it seems so far away. but i would like some reeses and some beef jerky and some pop tarts, and i don't think there is anything that i need but also sweedish fish and some of those lemon drops (not the small yellow balls that are pr-packaged but the ones that are kind of bigger and actually lemon shaped that you put in the plastic bag yourself and they charge you by the pound). also i don't have the full missionary library and unlike Michael's mission it isn't in any of the flats here. so Jesus the Christ would also be good. don't send me any music, i don't have a player and most of my comps that have things only have mp3 players so cd's would be useless. also a letter from EVERYONE. some of you never send letters (i got the one from dad at zone conference on Saturday, thanks you) or email and it is like i don't have brothers or a sister at all. so tell me whats up with you all. i cant think of anything else right now.
I just want to remind you all of the power of prayer. i know i could have been much better about it when i was home and even here on mission. but i have been praying a lot more lately and with a lot more FEELING AND INTENT and it has made things so much better. We do have a Heavenly Father that loves and cares and LISTENS ND ANSWERS. so ASK and you shall receive, but we do have to ask first. i guess that is what i have learned lately, that while our Heavenly Father knows what we need, he wants us to talk to Him and to ask for it, not just to wait and expect it from Him.
I love you all, have a great week! i hope you all do something super fun for me!

Love,
Elder Harris
